Traditional Chinese Medicine
and Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is renowned as a holistic system. This holism is reflected not only in the philosophical underpinnings of the medicine but also in the functional application of the medicine itself. Generally speaking, TCM is composed of 5 branches, namely Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Herbal Medicine, Therapeutic Exercise, Massage and Diet Therapy.

Dr. Lin is specifically passionate about Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Mind Body Medicine, although she uses all 5 TCM modalities in her private practice.

Acupuncture and Moxibustion

Acupuncture has become the flagship modality for which TCM is recognized in America. These techniques are based upon the use of needles and the dried and ground leaf of Artemisa Argii (Moxibustion) at specific points on the body and in specific combinations. Acupuncture in the West is focused primarily on the use of needles and deemphasizes the use of moxibustion.  Acupuncture treatments at Nutima Integrative Medicine range from 60-90 minutes and include a clinical encounter that can include Naturopathic medicine, acupuncture needling, Chinese herbs when necessary, and is overall very relaxing with a comfortable heated massage table and aromatic neck warmers.

Acupuncture can be beneficial in treating some of the following conditions:

  • Adjunctive to radiation and/or chemotherapy,
  • Allergic rhinitis,
  • Prostate conditions
  • IBS/IBD
  • Digestive complaints- GERD, SIBO, UC, Crohn’s, Gastritis

  • Hypertension
  • Knee pain
  • Low back pain

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is the true heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Chinese herbal medicine has been practiced continuously for thousands of years with records of herbal medicine dating back 2000 years to the Han Dynasty!

Dr. Lin is especially passionate about herbs and using the highest quality material for her patients.  She believes it is more cost effective to utilize herbs along side acupuncture because by providing herbs, she can provide ongoing care in the period of time when the patient is not in the office for treatment-this optimizes the outcomes and helps facilitate shifting their health concerns more dramatically and quickly.

Chinese Herbal Medicine can be used effectively for the treatment of conditions such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Infertility
  • Dysmenorrhea
  • Musculoskeletal pains
  • Fatigue
  • The side effects of chemotherapy and radiation
  • Infections and inflammatory bowel disorders.

It is also effective as part of an overall wellness regimen which in Chinese is referred to as “Yang Shen”, or Life Nourishing.
