Dr. Yarnell is a noted authority specializing in men’s health, urinary tract problems (in men and women), and kidney problems (in men and women). Dr. Yarnell’s goal is to provide extraordinary, personalized care for patients with problems in these areas. He works to try to find and treat the causes of patients’ problems, as well as helping relieve symptoms when appropriate. As a professor teaching these subjects to medical students and doctors for over 20 years, he is much sought after for his expertise. He is also one of the pre-eminent practitioners and teachers of herbal medicine.

Dr. Yarnell graduated from Bastyr University in 1996. He completed a two-year residency with Silena Heron, ND, in Sedona, AZ in naturopathic family care and herbal medicine. He then worked as chair of the department of botanical medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ for 1.5 years. He is a full professor in the department of botanical medicine at Bastyr University where he has taught for 15 years.

Dr. Yarnell received a training grant through Bastyr University and funded by the National Institutes of Health (grant R25AT002876) to complete a basic certificate in clinical research at the University of Washington. His research on the herbal compound artemisinin in men with prostate cancer was published in 2015 in the Journal of Restorative Medicine. His current research includes:

  • Herbal treatments for drug-resistant urinary tract infections
  • Herbal treatments for polycystic kidney disease
